Derek,  I really enjoy and like your build posts.  The design considerations discussed in this and the chair posts really tie them together. Thank you for posting your projects.

Funny how people always take my opinions as arguments.

Yes, funny about that.

Thanks Don.

I must admit that I sighed with relief when the top went on the base, and it looked right to my eye. I could only do that at the end as the top is so heavy and large that it was impossible to life on my own. I had Lynndy help turn it over on the bench ... and she dropped it! It went sideways and bounced off the base and landed on the edge of one corner. I held my breath, absolutely sure that it was destroyed, only to find that the corner was slightly crushed and there were some dents along one edge. Lynn was in shock, as one could imagine. I've seen worse, and said it was fixable. Then proceeded to steam out the wood fibres with warm water and an electric iron. All good, and the relief on Lynndy's face was a sight. I really missed an opportunity then-and-there to guilt her into buying a new puppy, but that only occurred to me later. By then she had reclaimed her composure. Rats!

You tried to guilt your wife ?
For a puppy ? !
Good God man !
Who even entertains such thought's ?
Yeah im shocked but i draw the line at  offended.
Let's go deeper...
Your childhood, was it unsettled and guilt ridden ?
It's perfectly natural to seek compensation and comfort in such a situation.
Now, your parents....

I'm just messing with you. Sorry couldn't resist. I did the same thing to my marriage counsellor. How we  laughed 😅 🤣 .
She was brilliant. She had a Burmese cat like me. That's the definition of cool 😎  hip and up to speed.
My wife did that to my clavichord once.
It didn't improve my chances that night though. She bought me the cat instead.
Anyway I'm preaching to the choir here.
I'm so screwed up I have a mortiser collecting obsession. Do you think it's a trauma based thing ?
Cheers 🍻
