Looking for a week long woodworking class that offers accommodations on the east coast

#1

Hello everyone,
I was a member for probably over 25 years. Due to several personal gotchas I hadn't been around for at  least ten years. I'm back now in a healthier body. I retired this past August, but used any energies to woodwork which has always gotten me past bad times. That said, I'm not letting what time I have left on earth go without getting some bucket list items checked off.
Although woodworking for about 43 years, I'm in need of gaining the more detailed knowledge to go from here to there...
Can anyone suggest a school that would allow a tinkerer to come for a week and learn the "gap" I've never learned?
Any suggestions are welcome.
For Ellis, its been probably more than 15 years since I met and had a chance to talk to you at the NJ woodworking shows. I hope you are healthy and happy.

Rob Cosman has a week long hand tool workshop course that is on the East coast of Canada (just north of Maine) and he is currently accepting potential students for next years classes. Look on his site for the PHP (Purple Heart Project) for more information.

NC has a variety of options for classes - these results based on a web search for "Woodworking classes in NC"
Most well known (I think at least) is the John .C Campbell Folks School in the mountains somewhere.

  • Penland School Of Craft Address: 67 Doras Trl, Bakersville, NC 28705, United States Phone: +1 828-765-2359 ...

  • The North Carolina Furniture School Stuart R. Kent North Carolina Furniture School Director ...

  • ul 15, 2023 · 1. Scott Meek Woodworks Based in Asheville, North Carolina, this woodworker provides personalized classes for woodworking enthusiasts. The one-on-one lessons are conducted in 4-hour sessions, …
and I am certain there are others. These are all well regarded options - as far as I know.

I don't know where you live and how far you are willing to travel but some other choices are the Marc Adams School of Woodworking in Indiana:

https://www.marcadams.com/

and the Port Townsend School of Woodworking in Washington.

Wow, a blast from the past. Welcome back! Happy to hear you're still making sawdust. We'll have to figure out where all your previous posts were archived, so we can get you caught up.

Weren't you living in Chalfont back in those days? If you're looking for a local woodworking fix, have you talked to Chuck Bender? If you're still in PA, he's right around the corner (figuratively) and he's the real deal. If you do see him, tell him I said hello.

Hope to see you again soon.

@Woodreader, Did you ever post on the old WC forums using a different name? If so, email us and we can get you set up under that name where it shows credit for past participation (total topics, total posts, etc.).
