if you're only gonna have one hit that people remember in your career, you might as well have a massive, unforgettable song like Jimmy Ruffin had in What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted.......the talent level of inner city Detroit (what's left of it) is revealed a little in this song as Jimmy Ruffin was a brother of The Temptations' David Ruffin and one of the composers of this song, William Weatherspoon, is the older brother of comedian John Witherspoon......

I recently learned a couple of interesting facts about this song......first, this is a brother/sister act not boyfriend/girlfriend which I always thought......second, it's a cover with the original in the 1930s.......
Is there a connection here??......
I was always struck by Hank Williams phrase of "a purple sky" in his famous song......I never heard people describe the night darkness as "purple".......did Hank get that from the 1930s "Deep Purple" song above??......

I actually think that The New Colony Six has a second hit......I'll add it if in time I find it.......to me, there always was a beauty in their sound........

I met Beverly Bremers in O'Hare Airport in early 1970......I sat next to her in a crowded coffee shop at the counter......she was very attractive and I was very impressed with her......she was a young actress in the play "Hair" on Broadway and I was in the Army with every indication that I would soon be in Vietnam......we sort of hit it off.....had a nice conversation about where our lives were headed.....and then wished each other well and said goodbye......she recorded this some time after that.......
......."people don't stay the same forever.....somebody always loves a little more".......What a line!!......painfully true.......
