Turning class at Campbell Folk School

My wife and I got home last night from our week at the Folk School, where I learned a heck of a lot about the lathe and the tools for the lathe.

Robert Lyon and Doug Finkler, the instructors, were just terrific. I will remain grateful to them for their patience and their ability to get nuance across, even to me. To my amazement, the skew is no longer an evil contrivance, and beads are no longer limited to straight sides.

There were 9 students in the class, and the instructors improved the skills of all of us, including the 2 or 3 who already were good turners.

I recommend this school for anyone interested in a rather immersive week of skill building.
