Hi. I live in Huntsville, AL, and work for the US Army. I've been trying to learn to work wood for 10 years now, with some progress in fits and starts. Took a weekend class at Highland Hardware with Frank Klaus, and enjoyed that immensely. More recently I spent a week with Lonnie Bird learning hand tool fundamentals. To this point, my very limited output includes only two projects that I'm really proud of. I installed oak flooring, and finished it, and it turned out nicely. Later, I built a mantel, following Mario Rodriguez's "Federal" mantel. It turned out very nicely. Wood Central has been the most helpful, most reliable and most accessible learning source that I've had.
