The thing I like least about the Oneway live center (and clones) is the point. Since it is not spring-loaded it really needs a hole drilled in hard, dense woods and can crack thin spindles as they get thinner.
Instead, for spindles I far prefer the Steb live center which has a wonderful spring-loaded point. Even with it I still make a small hole (with a gimlet) in almost every spindle blank just for ease in centering without bending over to look and having to be careful.
