I see a little improvement over the Wolverine Vari-Grind being able to grind larger diameter gouges, but that has no advantage for me since I don't have huge gouges. My concern would be on the fit of the sliding table in the base. The base is just stamped steel, no machining, so it may fit a bit loose.

Just a caution. Even with these jigs, it still takes some skill to use them correctly. Nothing a little practice won't help. Just don't expect to become a master sharpener the day more jigs show up.

There was a steep learning curve for freehand grinding, because there is so little discussion of cutting edges, but the Robo Rest is so much faster than any jig that I no longer put off touching up the edge of spindle gouges, bowl gouges, and scrapers, especially when I am switching back and forth between tools and tip angles.
