I find most cremains are delivered

………..in pouches of different sizes, so any finish on the interior of an urn is not needed.

As Jamie stated, most facilities have the ashes in a plastic pouch of some sort. Guess how fancy the containers are depends on how the facility choses to present itself or justify their prices. I spoke to a local funeral director and in answer to my question what is the minimum size opening they want to work with, the answer was about (3"), three inches. Places in your locality may differ on this size.
