I poked around and tried to find out, but had no luck. Anybody know what Michelsen sells one of his hats for? Or any of the other top makers? I told somebody about them today and they were astonished such a thing could be done and asked the price. I have no idea.
Re: Anybody know what wooden Cowboy hat sells for?
Is JoHannes Michelsen still making cowboy hats? I saw a news story from some years ago indicating his prices were from $500 to $1500.
His woodhat web site is not useful at the moment but I found some hats sold on auction sites. His Hannes Tool web site is offering turning classes. $750 for three days.
A Michelsen hat would be fun to have.

Chris Ramsey just did a demo for our turning club. He gets a cowboy hat, mirror and mini cowboy hat out of the blank. Very good demo. Saiid he has made over 4,000 cowboy hats.
Re: Anybody know what wooden Cowboy hat sells for?
Chris is a fantastic turner and person. He only uses a 1/2, 3/8, and 3/15 bowl gouges and a big parting tool. He also brought some of his other turning, one massive Burl bowl. It was a great experience to watch and talk to him.
