New Work-"Nightshade"

It's just a coincidence that I finished and photographed this piece during the eclipse with the title being what it is. It is turned, carved (outside and in) and textured on the inside. The material is dyed cherry using leather dye, finished with Krylon clear matte finish and Renaissance Wax. It stands about 6 1/2 inches high. C& C welcome.

Very nice. I'm curious: why would you use cherry for such a piece? Wouldn't a lesser wood, such as poplar, have worked just as well?

I agree about liking to carve cherry. did you carve it green start to finish?

Keith, it was dry. When I get wood that is not bowl stock, I turn it into cylinders and pop them in the kiln.
