Request for traditional grind photos
david
After about 15 years of using a swept back grind on my V-shaped bowl gouge for interior and exterior walls, I am attempting to add a traditional grind gouge for bowl interiors. Trouble is, I have not seen a traditional grind on a gouge except briefly when the tool is passed around in a demo. Think Mike Mahoney calls it his "bottom feeder". I believe I have the concept down correctly, but wonder if there are nuances I am not aware of. Have not been consistently successful in my early attempts of using this grind on walls and bottoms. Perhaps I just need more practice, but are there photos available out there that I can look at and study? Is it basically like a spindle roughing gouge? What do your traditional ground gouges look like?
