Bowl form feedback requested please
David Eaves
>Hi there,
I turned this bowl today. It was a piece of Beech I didn't get my hands on to process until it had been standing a while. Unfortunatly from this it had started to get shakes. I did manage to salvage a reasonable amount, and have already turned a bowl with it.
I set out to turn the other half today. This was from near the fork and turning out some shakes dictated the shape a bit. I ended up with the form below. Diameter just under 7" by 3" tall.

I'm really pleased with how the bowl bit turned out. However, I have my reservations about the foot. I flip between liking it and not...
I'd be interested to hear what you think.
At the moment, I wonder if I should have added some detail to the foot to make the foot and bowl more distinct.
Or making the foot shorter, say about half what it is now.
Leave it as it is, as I do quite like the shape.. some of the time :o)
Any thoughts are really appreciated, please feel free to say what you want :o)
Cheers
David
Footnote: I'm hoping it stays in one piece.. due to the fork a bit of pith was unavoidable if I was to make a bowl out of the nice spalted wood.
