Pretty decent effort.

>As a father you might appreciate this.

You can have a smily face for that. :>)

My wife still gives us smily faces when we do good work in the shop.

The "us" is me and my 33 year old son. It doesn't get any better than this. :>)

>Bill is correct. Son was over yesterday. We 'played' in the new shop working on doors to the entertaiment center I'm/we're building for the den. I noticed a few grey hairs in his beard for the first time yesterday. That's enough to make any of us feel old. Can grand kids be far off?

>You saw Grey in your sons beard?!

That has got to be the most painful thing I've heard in a long long time!! On the bright side, count your blessings that he has lived long enough to turn grey, so many do not. :~(

>now if i can just get ONE of my two daughters to 'play' with me in the shop - or at least CLEAN it for me!!! actually, that's one of the main reasons that i've been making the gradual conversion over to hand tools. i've read too many stories about kids getting their fingers or hair badly mangled in the shop and i don't want to ever be posting a message AFTER the fact.

it's like one of those credit card commercials: six chisel set from costco - $10, a used stanley #5 of ebay - $20, daughter running around in the shop at your side - PRICELESS!

>that's sweet... maybe i'll just have to wait a little while longer to get my own shop helper!

>Frank, the wait will be worth it. Having my grandson work with me in the shop is one of lifes greatest pleasures. I just wonder what will happen in 2-3 years when he turns 13-14 and the hormones start to rage. I suspect that the shop time will take back seat to the young ladies.

hand tools vs ladies?

>it's a NO-BRAINER - especially in the teenage years... ah well... maybe he can come back to them in another twenty years after he's hopefully settled down (then the only problem will be finding time like the rest of us!!!)
