Sniff, sniff...cry...sob...
I hate to have to do this, (sniff) but my dear, 143 year old mother needs emergency surgery: the doctors all say her only chance is a life-saving lip-enlargment procedure and nose reduction. Not only that, but the children haven't had anything to eat for six years now; I was laid off from my job at McDonalds eight years ago; my unemployment benefits expired in 2002; and we've been living off of returning recyclable bottles for the five cents deposit. I got a cow that went dry, and a hen that won't lay, a big stack of bills that gets bigger each day, the county will haul my belongings away, but I'm bu...er...sorry. I'm back now. I'm so depressed it's hard to keep focused.
Anyway...sniff...sob...boo-hoo...I'm forced to sell my great-great grandfather's sharpening stone....... Please forgive me, I can't help it...
It's in almost, very nearly, practically, for the most part, brand new condition. (Sob) Both sides are perfectly flat. (Cry...wail) Great-great-grampa used it only for sharpening the carving knife on Sunday for the Sabbath chicken--when we had one.
It's still in its original box. It's a combination oilstone, with fine and coarse grits. You can still easily read "Carborundum" and "Sears and Roebuck Company" on the box.
I'm forced to part with it--I really don't want to, but my Mother, the kids--did I mention the dog? I'll let it go, reluctantly, if I must, for only five hundred dollars. Surely just the box is worth that! (Remember the Lie-Nielsen block-plane box?) Send cash, and let me know where to ship it.
