Completed tillor till fill...
Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA
>Here it is, my completed Galoott till. Id like to thank Dave Anderson (for CMF and inspiration), Doug Reynolds (for plan modifications), Ted Shuck (more plan modifications) and Richard Gillespie for his original post regarding building this till.
The carcass was made from rough cut 5/4 Obeche. All dimensioning and shaping was done with hand tools. Its made DT construction. Mahogany plywood was used for the panels. Solid Mahogany was used for the drawer fronts and saw spacers. The drawers are half blind DT the sides and back are Popular. The wooden knobs are ebonized.
The finish is milk paint top coated with BLO. The Mahogany has BLO only.
Things Id change if I could do it again.
Make the panel saw portion (middle section) larger, (its mostly full now) or extend the upper middle saw spacers all the way across the till.
Raise the shelf for small back saws even more (14 saw barley fit now).
Use a bandsaw to cut the curves on the sides.

>Very nice job, Scott! Way nicer than mine.
Now I'm thinking I need to make another one.
Enviously,

>Very nice work! You guys actually finishing projects has got to stop. I'm starting to develop a complex! Oh well, at least this is a 'shop' project.
One question...How deep is it, back to front?

>Nice project! Are those dovetails oriented so the grain does not go up into them? Never seen them done that way. If you didn't snap any off during fitting & glue-up then you're a better cutter than me!

>Looks great and I am sure that it was fun to build. Those open spaces tend to disappear quickly though. How about a loaded pix with a little more light on the upper half?
Sorry about your complex...
Scott Burr in Ben Lomond CA
>Steve. Wait till I post the matching hammer till and then you'll really have issues. The till is based on the full sized till plans. It's 12" deep.
BTW, whatever happend with the saw?
I'll try Alan, but...

>Scott,
Very nice work on the till. It really finished up nicely, too. Looks like yours will be the inspiration for several of us to finally getting around to making some saw storage.
Nice job!

>I want to build one of those, but I need to finish SWMBO's list before I can tackle another shop project. Your till is an inspiration for me to get off my duff and get on with it. Very nice work; my compliments.
