Re: Enough Sausagehound Hijacking, Already! Help!

>Greg, I have no argument with the tenacity and loyalty of dachshunds. The thing I got the biggest kick out of with ours was that whenever he was confronted by a much larger, and belligerent dog, that dog seemed to completely lose its composure the first time the doxie simply ran underneath it, delivering a bite or two in transit. Defense of family and homestead they understand and are deserved of their just accolades, but differentiating those many occasions where defense is not necessary seems to be beyond their mental grasp. After all, they are hounds. The main problem I have had with most of them, other than suspension problems, is their assumption, until proven otherwise, that any new acquaintance is to be treated as an adversarial badger. There's no way to get it through their thick skulls that the UPS or the FedEx guy is a welcome friend, usually bearing tools. I should explain that, where I live, there are no garbage collectors, hauling off your good junk, or Mailmen, bearing bad news and bills, but even here the doxies can't appreciate these subtleties. You can't even teach them that the guys carrying copies of "Watchtower" are so foolish as to try knocking on the front door, and are thus fair game, whereas everyone who comes to the kitchen door should at least be given the benefit of the doubt. If you live in Newark, or Camden, or on Staten Island, NJ, this is the dog for you, but down on the Delaware Bay, they are totally inappropirate technology.
