Adam's striking knife response

>Hey, Adam and Chris, great article and a great move forward. I agree with most everything you said, but would like to issue a couple of qualifications.
1) As you get more near sighted and/or less light sensitive, this design will tend to poke your eye out. BTW, Kingshott agrees. This may be what happened to all the old users and their tool sets, the striking knife got thrown out the first time a woodworker jabbed his eyebrow. :)
2) For this reason, I really prefer two different tools, each with wooden handle.
3) I also like the V bevel design, it's very handy to be able to mark either side. Kingshott also agrees. IIRC, he made his from an old saw.
4) I think it was Jeff Gorman who recommended using a marking knife with the bevel facing the fence because you can mark closer to where you want the line rather than a slight offset inserted by the knife body. I tried this, it works great.
All in all, a great job, thanks to Ellis, Chris, and Adam. I'll certainly try to pick up the issue, attend the chat.
Pam
