The "Cast S" is (of course) "Cast Steel", and we'd expect the maker's name to be centred within this space. So the maker's name should be rather long, and (I agree) start with "gardin".

Nothing springs to mind, I'm afraid.

>If you haven't changed the grind yet try this. Use it to leverage out wood. The back enables the chisel to roll out wood in the mortise. This was done by someone who knew what he was doing and in fact English chisels used to be made with a rounded back. If you don't like it no harm no foul but that grind while not done well is by design.
