>Not hard, i weld the 2 nails together then weld a spacer or just grind the weld. The smithy part i do when we have our outside fireplace going here in south Forida, hehe not too often and then use my small anvil and put them in oven to temper.
Would like to spend some time with somebody like Todd and see if i could forge weld the two nails together and not have to weld.
I had a need for a small mortice chisel and then made the swan neck to match....3/16 wide and they work. Fun to do and doesnt cost much other than time.

I have the 1/2" pair. I would rate them as sucks like a tornado! So soft I folded the point over pairing softwood end grain!
