"Barley Twist" on a spindle
I'm working on an altar project for the church, which will include faux legs at each corner. The pastor would like to incorporate legs with a twist, which I would describe as being like a barber pole.
I found an article I remembered from a 2004 issue of woodworkers journal, by Steve Blenk, which explained how to cut a "Barley Twist" and so maybe that's an official name for this spiraling leg form.
I haven't tried searching u-tube for this subject yet.
I'm wondering if anyone here has a reference to an article in Fine Woodworking, or a link to a video presentation that you would recommend. As many have noted, u-tube is no where near a peer rated site, and anything you all would recommend would fall into the characterization of peer rated.
Thanks!
(I'll also post this on the turning forum)
