Roger, his method is more or less the same as mine. It really has to be. The absolutely critical step is to resaw the board and get the resawn faces to become the outside of the box. I cut the miters first and then get the "inside" faces , where the resaw cut starts out, to the "outside" by FOLDING the boards-- book match style. The guy in the video does it by resawing the board, holding it while it's still together in front of himself, and then LITFTING the(half) board closest to him OVER the (half) board away from him. Either way, the resawn inside faces get to the outside. That's why I call it the "inside /outside " method. I do make a big deal about reference edges and reference faces. but that's not really critical if the boards are perfectly square. I have to worry a bit more because most of my boxes are natural edge so that you can't reference the bark edges.

not yet......just trying to understand the process.......and Taylor Swift can't possibly be perfect.......there's a flaw somewhere.......plus, it's in the 80s here in sunny Michigan.......which means it's Corvette weather.......and the shop may not see me until the leaves turn and fall.......

A Corvette! I had a poor man's version-- actually two of them -- Corvairs. I started to restore one of them and sold it to a guy named Jack Damsey (that really was his name) of Hot Air Entrerprisers, in Rockville , Md., who really tuned it up. It's a long story about how I never got the car back. I wonder if Jack is still kicking.) I'll never fool with cars again.

it was on the bucket list......do you remember the TV show "Route 66"??.......I climbed into that Vette with Todd and Buzz.......and always wanted one just to have a little fun.......nothing hard and fast......just cruise around listening to the pop music I like.......
