Eliot: when I made an interstate move in '01,the old style Uni-guard on my Uni-saw was damaged. I replaced it with the new style Uni-Guard, which looked identical to yours. There was no "wooden thingy" on the one I had on the Uni-saw.

So yours is like mine. Do you use it for most cuts, or do you find yourself turning it out of the way a lot? Frankly, I set mine up after many years of not using it because I don't have a good way to suction dust, and I was thinking about repurposing it for dust collection. I would have to get or make a decent dust collection hood and fix up all the hose etc.

Eliot: My Uni-saw was the "old" design -- bought it  circa 1987.  I utilized Uni-guard (along with the old style disappearing splitter) for probably 95% plus of my cuts. Despite running a 2 HP Oneida cyclone,  problem was dust collection, but that was probably the result of the saw and Uni-guard designs. 

In 2016, I sold the Uni-saw and Uni-guard and replaced both with a SawStop ICS and floating arm dust collection which works very well. I wish SawStop would make a Uni-fence clone with the hi/lo settings as an upgrade for its saws.

Two of my granddaughters are "Swifterrs"( something like that for spelling)These kids are just crazy about her!They work hard to get tickets for her concerts. One of them works in some kind of cafe to make the money. When I think about the cost of these concerts, it makes me a bit ill. What's the world coming to?
