From the viewpoint of getting older with somewhat reduced eyesight, I just sent off for a pair of Optivisor No. 4 -- 10 " from SPT Suncoast. I tried sharpening an old saw using some cheap magnifiers and really couldn't see what I was doing. I'll report on these magnifiers when I get them.

Eliot.....I'd like to respond to you......but, each time I've tried, I'm made to identify palm trees, buses, taxicabs, bridges, steps, etc etc.....

Eliot.....I've been using my reading glasses for awhile in the shop......still can see well at a distance; but, close up details are another matter......that's why the Hi Vise was added to help me with that kind of work......I've noticed that our favorite teacher......Rob Cosman.....has frequently been wearing magnifiers to help him see details......so, I'm looking forward to your review of the aids you bought.

I just got the Optivisors. I absolutely love them! I can finally see in the shop. ( Unfortunately, I won't be able to use poor eyesight as an excuse for my poor dovetails, though.)
The particular one I got is the NO 4 10 inch. Your eyesight and working distance requirements may differ. But, as for quality, I could not have asked for more.
