History question on old heavy aluminum Omnijig

This is the fixture that was discontinued in 2007-2008. A buddy just picked one up for $50, I've had mine for decades. I seem to remember that an individual invented that thing and sold the rights to Porter-Cable. The early PC versions only said Omnijig cast in the aluminum and latter said Porter-Cable. Any of you old timers remember that? Will definitely save me time looking through old FWW for vintage advertisements.

I don't recall a change in the jig casting.....mine says Porter-Cable. Hopefully, this will be helpful to your friend, you can find a video copy of the instructions for that jig on YouTube.....the actual company VCR video. Look for Porter Cable Omnijig 7116/5116 Instructional Video.

Don .. last name I can't remember and I'm to lazy to Google.. is the guy you mention....I think he is the guy that operates the Practical Machinist website. Or did years ago.

He was Don Thomas. He invented it quite a few years ago and sold it to P-C. I think he moved to South Carolina.
