Sometimes, you find a great tool that does a great job.....but, it's so small and insignificant that it may not be worth mentioning.....
Not this time, I found a handheld pencil sharpener that's solid brass.....made in Germany.....has replaceable blades.....and quickly sharpens a number 2 for shop use.
Got mine on Amazon.....suppose to be widely sold in art supply stores.....highly recommended.

I think I have one of those too. It is probably in the box of stuff I removed from my office when I retired in '97. Found half of a Gary Larson daily calendar in there the last time I dared to open it. Right now I've got a 1950's vintage crank pencil sharpener in my office -- just like I remember from primary school. I know that this works well for sharpening dowels when repairing botched screw holes.

I keep one in my apron and both in my shop.
I like #4 pencils, the lead stays sharper longer especially during DT markups.

Guess I lucked out, a few years ago I purchased a box of misc. items at an auction for a couple of dollars. In it was an excellent electric pencil sharpener. A year or two later, wife and I went to the Covered Bridge festival in Southern Indiana. We always stopped at the many yard sales along the route. I ran into several boxes of new pencils with the logo of an apparently closed church for one or two dollars each. Guessing each box held over a hundred pencils! I have a lifetime supply! I sharpen several at a time and set some at various locations in the shop.
