BTW, you'll get a deeper visual effect if you use gloss finish rather than satin. Since you're rubbing out at 400, the gloss will be "killed" anyway but a finish film without the flattening agent (as in satin or semi) won't "scatter" the reflected light.

Been aware of the stuff, as well as the additive that creates it from regular shellac, but I'm wondering as to why none of it can be exported or sold to the US.

There something in it that Aussies are immune to but makes Yankees' hair fall out?

What a great idea to re-design the table. The changes make such a difference! I really like how the drawer blends in so well as to be invisible.
