GF Clock Plans

>I`m kind of throwing around in the back of my head to build a Grandfather clock for each of my children. Does anyone have any web addresses for companies that have plans, parts and movements. As movements go, I`m looking for the tubular chimes. Appreciate any help. TIA Larry in NW Ohio

>Good Evening Larry,

I've built a couple clocks from plans supplied by Murray Clocks of Ontario, Canada. I likes then because plans are available for all their offerings. Clock Kit, on the other hand, wants you to buy their kits. Many of their clocks are not available in plan form. Murray sells all the necessary hardware, and gives you a choice of various movements and the associated compatible faces and pendulums. Tickle their web site. The pix is a grandmother clock I built for my SWMBO/favorite grandmother for Christmas 2005.

>Norm did a Philadelphia style clock on the show broadcast here today. Not terribly fancy on the works - battery driven, no chimes, but a really nice, simple, tall clock. Very Shaker looking, except for the top of the case frill. Painted poplar.

Made me remember the fancy one he did in Mission/Prairie style, white oak, back a couple of years, with the full lyric movement and two weeks of the show. Standard rules apply there - the plans include where to get the movement, etc.

I did a couple of Shaker wall clocks, from a FWW article C Becksvoort did maybe four or five years ago. I got reproduction movements from Merrits, in Pennsylvania somewhere. Their web presence was truly antique, but calling them got me what I needed, and my credit card worked. They really know their clockworks.
