>I can't help you with the headboard, but I'm a very, very happy user of a Sleep Number bed. I was always under the impression that a firm mattress was the key to comfortable, backache free sleep. Wrong! I used to wake up every morning with a backache from sleeping on my conventional mattress. Those days are gone with the SNB. Also, I used to suffer from regular bouts of muscle spasms-you know, a couple-three times a year, I'd slice an egg wrong, bend down to tie my shoe, sneeze funny, and BANG-I'd be lying on the floor in pain and only some vicodin, muscle relaxers, and a day or two in bed on a heating pad would get me back on my feet. Since I bought the bed, that hasn't happened again-and it's been almost two years. Maybe a coincidence, but I don't think so.

I hate to sound like a shill for the product, but IMHO, everything they claim for the bed is true. Don't bother with the plastic foundation. I bought one and quickly realized that a piece of 5/8" ply between the mattress and box spring will work just fine, so I sent the foundation back. It took a couple of tries to find the right "number" but once dialed in, that's it.

No affiliation with the product/company, just a very happy customer.

Worth every penny.

There just happen to be a lot of futon frames that offer a good starting place for designs. Just google up headboard designs and take it from there. It's not difficult. You can do it.

Another option for pix are Manufacturers' Web sites. I found the perfect design for us at the Thomasville site. Ethan Allen also has nice designs.

We got a sleep number bed a couple years ago and it is pretty good. I don't think it is as comfortable as some of the high end standard mattresses. But, we had a very expensive standard mattress for about 8 years before I started having shoulder and back problems again. Based on how I slept, I'd say it had been worn out for a couple years by then.

The sleep number should easily double the lifespan of the standard mattress. The mattress we abandoned appeared brand new, but sure didn't sleep it. There are some replaceable components in the sleep number that should allow me to give it a comfort overhaul at some point. The pillow top is replaceable on them. The biggest hassle with the sleep number is the fact that it is affected by weather. So hot/cold and pressure cause you to have to readjust it regularly. It has become habbit for me, but one my wife doesn't like as I usually come to bed after her and the mechanism sometimes wakes her up.

for 10 years. Except for the numbers,

it's the same mattress as far as I

know. Ours is a full size mattress

and two air chambers on top,separatly

adjustable. I'm 77 years old and have

never slept better. My wife loves hers

just as much. My guess is that you will

be very satisfied.

She DID however, REALLY liked the next-to-highest end genuine Tempurpedic. :-(

This is also a move from queen to king, so a headboard/platform is in my future as well.
