My Jointer lives!
Charles Sharp
>I purchased a jointer (Central Machinery) off of E-bay for $50, picked it up and took it home.
I tried to joint the face of a 2x4 and the machine didn't have enough power to maintain the rpm's of the cutters. I figured that either the motor was bad or it was wired for 220v and had a 110v plug on it.
I asked an electrician if he knew where I could find some info to see if the motor was wired for 110v or 220v. His answer was "look under the cover". It was there, I reconnected a couple of wires so it was set up for 110v and it runs like a champ!
The only down side is that I have used up all my luck so early in the year.
