Way OT - Anybody here like to go fishing?

>I don't anymore. Started feeling guilty about killing the poor fish...

But this is really funny. This google video pretty much sums up my fishing career.

Everything but falling off the boat :-)

Steve Antonucci

>The snake in the tree cracked me up. Never had that happen, but I've done the rest and more.

One day, I decided to cut out early and throw the boat in the lake. I had a short bed S-10 with a 10' john boat. It's a sort ride to the launch, but I always strapped the boat with ratching tie downs.

On this day, I was in a hurry, so I just threw the excess inside the boat. While backing the truck down the ramp, I was rudely awakened by the boat crashing through the back window. Apparently, the excess strap had fallen under the rear wheel and backing up on it wound that sucker up like a bow string. If I had a solid back window vs. a slider, it would have probably knocked me out cold.

Don't even remember how many I caught that day, but I figured I was there and the deed was done, so I went fishing.

Thanks for the laughs.

Steve

>I've had a number of people send me that Bill Dance video. I laugh every time I see it. To me, fishing is one of the most relaxing things you can do. Plan to do a fly-in to Ontario again this year.

This cartoon says it all for me.

#5 Son's First Fishing Trip

George@Colonel's Workshop-Havertown PA

>Good Morning Joe,

Yeah, I like to fish. I recall the time I took #5 son Steve on his first fishing trip, at French Creek State Park here in PA. We were csamping out with our Boy Scout Troop. It had rained steadily all weekend long and we were pretty uncomfortable after sleeping in Boy Scout tents for a couple days. Steve's brothers and I were not keen about fishing from a very muddy bank. We wanted to get in my station wagon and go home to bathe and eat. Not Steve, however! And I had promised his First Fishing Trip.

The footing was slippery. The trail through the woods was right next to the water. We slipped and slithered and finally came to a spot large enough to accommodate all of us. I had all the boys rigged up and was baiting the final hook when it began to rain again. I cautioned Steve not to cast the line. Our spot was shielded by several overhanging trees. Seeing his older brothers cast successfully, Steve ventured out onto the exposed portion of a partially submerged tree root and swung the rod tip violently. The line, bait and bobber sailed straight up, the line wrapped itself around a limber tree branch, sending the bobber and hook arching downward, snagging Stephen's left ear lobe. Steven shrieked and began jumping up and down in surprised discomfort, but hanging mightily on to his new Zebco rod and reel. All the motion and commotion caused the sunken tree root to dislodge from the mud and begin to float away from shore, while the limber tree branch kept Steve "hooked" in place. I yelled at him to let go of the rod and he THREW it in the lake which jerked the branch again, causing him to scream and dance atop the floating log. Steve lost his footing and wound up standing in 12 inches of lake and two feet of mud. I got one of his brothers to climb the tree with my knife to cut the line. Then we rescued Steve, wading out into the mud and pulling him to shore. He was slathered in pitch black mud from the thighs down, and thoroughly soaked. I looked at his ear and the barb had not penetrated the flesh. I lifted the point out easily and quickly, but Steve's emotions were so revved-up you'd have thought I was murdering him by inches. We were half way back to the station wagon before we discovered his right sneaker was missing. For all I know, it is still there stuck in the mud.

>I will have to say the most exciting fishing trip I was on was in Silvania GA.. I had to go to Montgomery Alabama on a business trip - after that was finished, I headed for Sylvania... I had a good friend there who had two bass ponds where no one ever fished!! My associate and I watched while the hired hand launched the boat for us..My associate waw something on the water and inquired as to what it might be.. the hired hand says "it's only a gator" "he a small one" "he won't bother you!!"

So we started fishing for bass - knockin' 'em ded!! Big fish!! Fun!! So I saw the gator about the length of a good cast - so I cast my frog close to him - he reacted unbelievably fast - zeroing in on the splash from the lure!!! I found that I could cast close to him, teasing him somewhat!! So, I took my good frog lure off and put on a big long purple worm - cast it out to him - let him take it and set the hook!!! Yeow!! I had a real lunker there!! He was fightin' and rollin' all ove the pond!! Then he seemingly "gave up!!" My friend grabbed up the boat paddle with a frightning look on his face - "he is comming straightfor us!! he is going to get in the boat!" He was ready to cold cock the gator and I was letting line out purposly tring to losen the hook embedded in the gators gnarly mouth!! Finaly!! the hook came loose, my friend smacked the water with the oar and scared the gator away!! WoW!! I thought he had us!" Nah! he was only a little one!! So, that did add some excitement for the day in the wild for two Colorado trout fishermen!!! Ha!!!
