Way OT: Rant about Kodak Easy Share
Barry Irby
>Suffice it to say I don't understand digital photography, and I bought a Kodak camera and It had "Easy Share" software and a Dock.
What liar of a lunatic named this product?
You have to put the camera in the dock with it "OFF". Why woudl it work at all, if it is OFF? But In this case, it won't work if it is ON.
In the software you create folders with whatever names you want, like Vacation, or Personal, or Tools. Name as many as you want, because its not going to put them in there anyway. I tell it to put the one fo my bandsaw in "tools" and the one of my son in "personal". Then if I go back to look for them in any other software, they are actually in a folder under the date they were loaded into the computer. Not the day they were taken, but the date I load them. So if I carefully put them in their respective folders, the idiot software ignors all that and puts them under the date.
So, a year later, I want to post a pic of my bandsaw on WC. Easy, right, I just hit Browse and look in my Tools Folder. NOT!!!! Browse does not see the Tools Folder. Neither does Word. Only Easy Share. So I have to open Easy Share, Find Tools, Find the photo, Note the date it was uploaded, then go back to Browse and Find MY Pitures/Kodak and find it according to the date. Even that is screwed up. The date listed in the Properties of the photo is in the 2/12/2006 format, but in the Kodak file the format is 2006/12/2. Its enough to make a dyslexic person bang his head on the floor.
Oh! and if you want to remove the photos in a Kodak Folder, you have to go find them and take them out one at a time. If you delete the folder, it specifically says it does not remove the photos. I'm still not clear on the EASY part.
And don't let me get started on resizing a photo. What a strange and arcane process that is. Crop away fifty percent of a photo and its bigger than it was to start with? EASY would be a command that said cut this to 40kb for WC.
What a bunch of crap! Rant off, I think its bed time. Thanks for the opportunity to vent.
