Oops! Misstook Preview for Premier!!!
Barry Irby
>Thanks, I just realized it is a preview Issue not a Premier Issue. Thought I was getting in on the ground floor.
How long have they been around? I would actually feel better if They had been around a while. Most new magazines fail pretty quickly and I did not want to sign on and lose my subscription fee.
me too

>I got one as well, my dad used to subscribe. I think I need a break from WW mags though, my subscription with Popular Woodworking ran out, and I haven't bothered to renew it. Though they did have some nice articles.

>Woodsmith has been around for 25+ years. It's truely a quality publication and most everything in the pages is researched pretty well. I knowbecause I use to work there as a project designer.
I have every issu to date. Although I think this will be my last renwal as I'm tired of seeing the same content cycle through every 3 or so years. The skill level of the material never seems to get above the advanced intermediate level.
They Printed Woodsmith's First Issue

>from pulp from the first tree, Barry. I have them going back years and still subscribe. Otherwise, I am interested only in an occasional Pop Woodworking. I've run out of arms and legs to pay for Fine Woodworking.

Its one of a few that I get annually...those being Woodsmith, Shopnotes, Finewoodworking and WoodShop News.
If your lucky to live in Iowa, the Woodsmith store in Des Moines sets out some of the old versions for the taking at the checkout counters. No limit either...take what ya want. Ive got at least 50 this way on a half dozen trips thru there on the way to wifey's hometown.
They may have discontinued this practice now that I think about the last visit there around new years.

So! You're THAT Ted Wong!

>Howdy Ted!
Don Peschke used to have trouble meeting schedules. Very few of the earliest issues came out when they were supposed to, IIRC. I kept thinking - in the early days - that even if I'd thrown money down a rathole, the first issuees made the deal worthwhile. I kept up a subscription from the earliest offering until maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Like you, I finally tired of seeing the same features again and again. Same thing eventually happened with ShopNotes.
According to the spline notes on my 4" binders, the first issue of WoodSmith was in 1982 and the first issue of ShopNotes was January of 1992.

>I have a complete set of both Woodsmith and Shop Notes. I got preview issue also. Address was a little different from subscription, but got a couple of cards in there for $28 for two years. I just copy label from current issue and send it along with card and check and two more years for $28. One of my favorite magazines.
My copy of Issue #1 dated January 1979
