Tucker Ellis McRae entered the world at 10:45 pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, OH. He weighed in at 6 lb.-15 oz. and 19 1/2″ long. The birth was an ordeal for Mariel because of some unfortunate issues with the doctor and hospital staff, which I won’t go into here.
Candy and I were arriving at Mariel and Rob’s house about the same time, as Mariel had notified us earlier in the day that the big event was about to happen. We wanted to be on hand to take care of whatever chores needed to be done in the first few days after the baby was born, and we were ready to head out to Ohio on short notice.

His big brother, Chandler, now 14 months old, was also on hand to welcome the new guy.
Mariel is adapting to the new realities of having two boys to take care of day and night, and is looking forward to when Tucker begins to sleep through the night, which might not happen for a while yet. In the meantime, she’s getting very little sleep.
