http://www.westwoodturnery.co.uk Although I have attended many classes with professional turners, I would describe myself as a self-taught club turner who has been enjoying his craft for over 30 years. During the last dozen or I have specialized in making salt and pepper mills and shakers. On leaving school I started his career in the computer industry, serving a 5-year apprenticeship as an electromechanical engineer; yes, computers did have moving parts in those days! I remained in the industry until I took early retirement, and now spend a good deal of his time in my workshop. My schedule also includes taking my woodturning experience to ‘outside’ groups by giving talks and demonstrations to social organizations. A number of my mills have appeared in the UK Woodturning and US Woodturning Design magazines. I am an active member of the Hampshire Woodturners Association and the Test Valley Woodturners. I’m also a member of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW). My book, Turning Salt & Pepper Shakers and Mills is published by Taunton Press in North America and GMC Publications in the UK.
