I have various interests: old Japanese and British motorcyles and sidecars, old school film photography with a minor in 19thC Holmes format 3D photography, and a bit of leatherwork, and of course woodwork which can be best described as post-apocalyptic, pioneer or Neolithic in quality and 10w40, sweat and BLO in finish. I used to teach mornings and evenings in North Carolina and in my afternoons off discovered Roy Underhill on TV. I got the bug and became proficient in the major tools and skills. Arriving back in the UK, I was given an empty warehouse (read, "large hobby shop" in American Standard English) and money because I happened to mention to a work colleague that I had taught in the US prison system and would have a go at teaching literacy by the sneaky way of teaching joinery to the unemployable, juvenile delinquents and such. It was an experince of small victories and ongoing frustration. I live in close quarters and have just rented a garage to again get back into some woodworking therapy. I work in demolition- no lesson plans, no suicidal students, no clothes to wash and press. I do get first pic at materials for my own use. I built a curragh a few years back one summer in the back yards. Apart from that, all I want to make are 20 boot jacks for Christmas presents and a few more bits of furniture. I really got into stickback kitchen chairs a lifetime ago. Apart from that, I am a type 1 diabetic, classified as crazy and lean about as far left as that great American, Michael Moore. Justin
