My father was a Master Wood Pattern Maker for 60 years. He worked with companies and engineers custom creating unique patterns for special equipment such as pie plate machines, drawbridge drive mechanisims, paper making machinery, dryer rolls, splitters, winders as well as cyprus pickling vats. He produced many models of some of the more unique patterns for specialty machonery to scale in his basement workshop. I inherited his tools and machinery when he passed away at the age of 70 in 1971. I inherited his tools and machinery but not his innate ability to create things of not only utility but beauty as well. He worked with draftsmen and engineers reworking aspects of designs where he saw flaws or errors which would translate to faulty castings hence faulty machinery.
