Chuck's Wood Shed  My wife and I were both raised on small farms in the rural south and spent about forty years running as hard as we could to get away from them. In the process we lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Arizona, and New Jersey. After we reached the point where we could retire and live anywhere we want, we decided to live on our 300 acre farm in rural West Tennessee.  I've always loved trees and woodworking. In 2000 I bought a Wood-Mizer LT40 sawmill to harvest some trees from our property. I failed to listen to a previous sawmill owner's advice to hide the sawmill as far from sight as possible to keep people from wanting me to saw logs for them. He was right. I am happy to saw small quantities for friends and neighbors, but I chase everyone else away with a stick. One good thing is I get a lot of calls from folks wanting to give me nice trees that are being taken down in yards, fence rows, churches, etc. throughout the county.  In 2007 I decided to buy a lathe to turn some table legs... same old story. You've heard it over and over so I won't repeat it. I'm having a great time with it and it provides a great outlet for some of the free wood that isn't of much use for anything else.
