Set up my woodshop when I retired at 60 in ‘91. Bought Chris Taylor’s (Taylor Design) Incra Jigs; set up Incra Jigs on my 3 hp Powermatic table taw, my router table, and my drill press. Began turning out jewelry boxes with ostentatious corner post double-dovetails, wooden hinges, and other features made possible by the accurately repeatable, incremental positioning of my table saw and router. My work was in the Jessel Gallery in Napa Valley, California, after ’94, and I sold several articles to Woodworker’s Journal. I’m one of the artist’s featured in Patrick Spielman’s “Art of the Router,” 1998. Moved to the Sierra Foothills in 2000. Continued router work, but much slower pace. Bought a Jet 1642 2 HP in 2010. Used to take weeks or months to complete a router project; now I can do a simple little vase or goblet or bowl in a day! Slowly learning to use the skew and gouges... so different from positioning blades mechanically with absolute accuracy!
