I have been retired since July 1996 & no longer undertake large projects. In fact, for the past 11 years a goodly amount of my play pen time(shop) has been spent making wooden toys which are donated each Christmas to children of needy families. Only recently have I started using water based paints ( I hate painting ) & previously relied on using different species of wood for color emphasis. In most cases the wood I use are cut-offs from other projects, mine as well as those donated to me by friends, consequently cost is zero. I usually make all components except axles & lately wheels for some projects. My shop equipment consists of a drill press, a 1958 AMF manufactured Radial arm saw, router table, 3 routers, 14" bandsaw, 6" Jointer, 13' thickness planer, 1" belt sander, spindle/belt sander and a scroll saw.Plus a wood lathe purchased new when I was 14 which makes it 65 yrs old. That's the problem with aging....everything you own ages right along with you.
