Friday Puzzler -- Queens Gambit

Well, not really about the chess opening or the show, but it does use a chess board.

Below is a chess board with three squares colored. Can you divide the chess board into four identical parts, each part containing one of the colored squares.

Does the colored square have to be in the same position in each of the divisions?

In my mind to stay in the identical shape they had to all include a corner. From there I started drawing lines. I used Excel as that's all I had to start with 64 squares. The hint that they did not all have to be in the same location was a big help as I could not see any way for that to happen. Initially I started CW and it was obvious that was not going to work. I gave each of the 4 original squares a color. Once I started changing the squares to a color that lined up it was like unrolling a cinnamon roll. I do a lot of segmented turning and that works by building blocks in a pattern, which is what the question did.

for posting that, Sam. I always like to see HOW a puzzle is solved.

I went about it slightly differently. ASSUMING that the four shapes would be identical with rotation, I noted the four squares that would have to be different in each rotation, Then colored them assuming that the order of the colors would stay the same, shifting one at each rotation. Connecting like colors started the outward spiral.
