Whoops! Just thought of another (and you will probably think of more). So make that 5 ways to score the 8 points, including touchdown followed by 2-point conversion.

Here are two possibles:

1. Team A scores a TD, then misses the extra point. Team A kicks off and tackles the Team B player in the end zone for a safety.

2. Team A tackles the Team B player in the end zone for a safety. Team B punts and Team A runs the ball into the end zone for a TD. Then misses the extra point.

Correct on #2 and a clarification

#2 happened on 11/17, when Georgia Tech tackled a Virginia player for a safety and returned the ensuing free kick for a touchdown. (I don't know if they made the extra point, but those are the two plays that added to 8 points.)

Clarification: by "play", I meant the ball being put in play, so in your first answer, the missed extra point would be an intervening play. I'm not sure if a conversion attempt after a touchdown is considered a play in official statistics, but that is how I was using the word.

I'm not much of a football fan, so flag me if this deserves it.

You ruled out touchdown followed by two-point conversion, but assuming the order can be reversed:

Team A scores a touchdown (ignore this one), makes the two-point conversion, and kicks off. Team B fumbles the return and a player from Team A picks it up and returns for a touchdown.

This is the one I didn't think of until after posting the original question.

So now we have:

TD + 2-pt conversion

Safety + runback of free kick for TD

2-pt conversion + recover fumble (or live ball) of kickoff for TD

Anyone think of two more?

Larry and Henry have both mentioned cases where the 8 points are scored by 2, followed by 6. The other two solutions are also scored 2 followed by 6.

Looks like there are no more takers on this. The last two I have thought of are:

Team A scores a touchdown and attempts a two-point conversion, which Team B intercepts (or recovers a fumble) and returns approximately 100 yards to score 2 points. Then B returns the kickoff for 6 more.

Team A scores a touchdown with time running out on the first half. They score a two-point conversion, and return the second half kickoff for a touchdown.
