Friday Puzzler -- Paying for Beer

A, B, and C go to a picnic, A brings 5 beers, B brings 3 beers, and C brings no beer. They end up drinking from cups, and splitting the beer evenly. C has $8.00 that he wants to give to his friends since he did not bring any beer. How much should he pay to each friend?

Is C also making things good between A and B, rather than just between himself and A and B separately (which is how I read it)?

They each drank 8/3 cans = 2 2/3 cans. So B contributed 1/3 can to C. And A contributed 5 - 2 2/3 = 2 1/3 = 7/3 cans to C.
