I remember this from the '60s. What was it? Dang, it's driving me Mad.

Glad to have been able to provide your [hopefully fun] aggravation.
Hint

The solution to this has only been available for the last 130-140 years.

Well, I've only known about it for 49 years. I'm sure Mad magazine wasn't the first to assign something that name, but their March 1965 cover was the first I knew of it. I was in 6th grade, and some of us found trying to replicate that graphic to be much more interesting than whatever we were supposed to be learning.
I'm stumped

What do you think comes next? The solution I have in mind has nothing to do with Mad Magazine, although I'm sure it was as prevalent there as elsewhere.
I thought from your answer that you were referring to the magazine, and look forward to hearing what solution you have.

I bet Alex is thinking that after Y and T, the rest of the answer is R E W Q.

And I love that picture, just never associated it with Mad, or knew that it had a name. It seems very "Escherian" to me.
