ABCD x 9 = DCBA

What distinct digits are represented by A, B, C, and D?

OK. I think I have the answer but if I give it away I'll get put in the dang box and it is too cold to be there so this is my smokescreen. In what year did Mount St. Helens erupt killing 57 people? Those are the digits but the wrong order. For the right order, put 4 in 2, leave 1 where it is, move 2 to 4 and leave 3 where it is. Is that clear? No? Good.
