This person (known in the furniture world) once apprenticed with Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore. He parted ways with Borglum and Borglum told him he was not talented enough to be a sculptor. Who is he?

Think of sculptor Gutzon Borglum's total body of work. Add then this Pole (I think) with a name that sounds like the character's line "Oo Oo Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter". Gary's answer gets better.

American born tutor to Mt. Rushmore's sculptor son. Ethnic name with museum in New York. I never heard of him until this look up. Interesting guy, brilliant at most everything he did. Big also with dancers, composers as well as designers and architects. Hermann Miller still makes his design. Should have discovered him sooner.
