Holiday Humpday Triviola

Thomas Skaggs, Foothills of Mount Level

Merry Christmas to all you triviola players and Wood Centralians in general.

So who wrote this....."...Vergennes having been pleased to say he would give orders at Calais for the admission of certain articles which I wish to bring with me from England...as follows...A box containing small tools for wooden and iron work, for my own amusement..."

Did he also get his picture on a rather large denomination bill?

Fred

Not quite as cold, but still gray and bleak in Eastern Missouri

Answers so far......

So far I have 3 guesses. 2 seem to be the same....possibly all 3. But I cannot rule Lee's guess as incorrect.

I admit if the England (English person) part was a red herring and the answers so far indicate he was an American at first I thought it was the kite guy. Seeing from the response that is not the case I'm leaning toward a Southern architect, a former President, a statesman and also a likeness part of the monetary system.

Would it be the same person who said "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."?

The guy I'm thinking of had a big house in Virginia and liked gadgets.

Lee was the first of several with the correct answer of Thomas Jefferson. As we speak, elves are preparing a Golden Uni for delivery.

Merry Christmas to all!
