A few weeks ago, had my first walnut tree sale in a few years, prices have came up, maybe the recession is getting better(?).
Sold 15,000 bd. ft. of black walnut, min. top diameter was 16", a couple of the tree brought $1K each.
Guess what the average price/bd.ft. was? First person to come within 5% of the price wins.

Interesting question. Just the tree with no transport or milling I'm guessing $2.10

The price is paid where the trees are decked up on the property. Around here, the walnut buyer comes out to the property measures & grades the logs after the loggers have skidded them up to the deck. Money is passed at that point in time. Sorry for not giving this information up front. Care to give another price. Actually the three prices given at this point are not that far off.
