Tuesday puzzle

Standing in for Dan again.

Alan and his sister, Betty; son, Charlie; and daughter, Debbie, are tennis players. The following facts refer to the people mentioned:

1. The best player's twin and the worst player are of opposite sex.

2. The best player and the worst player are the same age.

Which one of the four is the best player?

Debbie is the best player.

Betty and the kids (who are twins) are the same age.

Alex - no designation

Betty - Worst

Charlie - Twin of the Best

Debbie - Best

By the way, since I'm relatively new here - is there a convention where I should wait to answer the logical puzzles?

Still haven't gotten the betting strategy down, need to have some time to experiment with different win-loss sequences, but will do it this weekend when the in-laws are over!

Good job!

Not really. Sometimes it is fun to try to answer in a way that indicates (rather obliquely) to the poser that you have the correct answer, while not giving it out to others. Eg, one participant often uses movie references, so if a puzzle has an answer of "5", he will answer "Number of Easy Pieces". If I can't hide it, I will usually indicate "answer" in teh subject line so those who don't want to see it won't open it.

But this is just my observation, not any "rules".
