I cannot answer Thomas' question and normally would not put this up until it gets done, but I will be away most of the day, so will put this up now. Answer his before you do this one ;)

The picture shows some canvas-based upholstery with a knotted wool pile. This type of upholstery survives on a few 17th-century chairs and couches, but is still done today. What is it called?
