Just looked in one of my books: Contemporary American Woodworkers. The building belonged to WE not EW.

You were on the right track with your first answer, but a little dyslexic. ;-)
The workshop and studio was designed and buildt by its user...Wharton Esherick. Esherick was a man of many talents with wood and worth looking up if folks are not familiar with his work.
